History of the Club

The Calgary English Springer Spaniel Club (CESSC) was formed in 1969 by a number of spaniel enthusiasts who were interested in field bred English Springer Spaniels. The CESSC is an incorporated organization with members who own or are interested in field bred English Springer Spaniels, either for hunting, field trialing or both. The Club is affiliated with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and runs Field Trial and other events approved by the CKC.

The Club runs Approved Field Trials in both the Spring and Fall at various locations in southern Alberta. In addition to these trials the club hosts training sessions and other fun events such as picnic trials and clay shooting. The Club holds monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month for most of the year.

The Club has hosted three Canadian National Championships in 1994, 2002 and 2010 and the Canadian Amateur Championship in 2014.
