Tom Bratrud, Stan Pappas and Tim Bashforth have been dedicated
to the sport of Field Trials for many years. As Owner’s, Handler’s &
Breeders they have put numerous hours of training into their dogs
to recognize the potential with the dogs and achieve such an
accreditation. The club is lucky to have these gentlemen that breed
& train exceptional dogs and mentor individuals looking to excel in
the sport of Field Trials
Congratulation’s gentlemen!
The reason why I started trialing, is I realized that through
competitions you can showcase your dog and also see what
everyone else is doing. In my mind it's very important to compete
amongst friends who have the same interests. The most important
thing while training any dog is to have fun, love your dog, and enjoy
the sport. A field trial is like a barometer on how you and your dog
are doing.
I started field trialling in the 60s with a Labrador Retriever, her
name was Sue. I then moved on to English setters and pointers. It
was in the late eighties I bought my first English Springer Spaniel
and the rest is history.
All good dogs show early potential and they keep the potential and
their competitiveness for their lifetime in field trials. A good dog
starts early and stays with you long.
It is hard to say that I can find a better dog than the one I have
now. Colt has been my best dog ever and I am hopeful that the next
dog maybe half as good as Colt.
Freyja has won 5 trials and
comes from a line of
Champions both in Canada
and the UK.
Her father Druid (FTCH Skaar’s
Summer Solstice) came 2nd in
the Canadian National
Amateur in 2014. Her
grandfather came 2nd in the
National Open in 2009 and
won the Best Canadian Dog
Trophy in 2009. Her Great
Grandfather was the High
point open dog in Canada and
the US and was inducted into
the Hall of Fame in in 2010.
On her mother’s side, Guinn
has both FTCH and AFTCH.
(AFTCH FTCH Squareclose
Guinn at Skaar (GBR).She
came to me from Scotland as a
gift and goes back to FTCH
Clarburgh Art who was the
High Point Sire in Canada but
never actually came to
Canada.
