VOLUNTEERING

The success of any club relies on volunteers.

Participation - How To Get Involved

From the start of your membership, begin to connect with other members by joining in on meetings.

From these meetings the takeaway is not only meeting like minded individuals with the passion of our

dogs, but information of how we each try to encourage our dogs to be the best that they can be.

1.            Volunteering connects you to others

2.            Volunteering is good for your mind and body

3.            Volunteering brings fun and fulfillment to your life and others

4.            Volunteering shares your experiences with others

Our members have a wealth of experience. These “bits and bites” of information knowledge can greatly

benefit in training from puppy stage to competitive trials and hunting.

Our club hosts “trials” for field spaniels.  These events highlight the dog’s abilities of a competitive

hunting scenario, being judged on their performance.  Obedience, search, the flush, steady to shot and

retrieval of the bird are just a few attributes these dogs are judged on.

At Trials, as a group we work together to provide the best possible scenario to show off their abilities.

Trial Chair – Coordinates and oversees:  location, judges and volunteer positions

Judges are qualified by CKC, with many years of experience in field trials

Equipment Manager – assists in ensuring equipment and cargo arrives at trial site.  Set up of tables,

chairs, cooling stations for the dogs.

Game Steward – Orders and ensures birds are ordered, assist in unloading into holding pens, food &

water, collection & disposal of game.

Course Management – Flag the course for the trial.

Field Trial Marshals – ensure 2-way radios are charged & working, has running order sheets, announce

to gallery running dogs and on deck, coordinate with judges the dogs who move on to the next series.

Planters – individuals who set birds down on the course for the dogs to flush.

Shaggers – individuals who assist the judge for collection of birds when retrieved.

Field Trial Secretary – Set up trial dates, submit judge’s application, manage premium list, accounting

with submissions from Dogshow entries, print all forms for the trial and submit completed forms to the

CKC, advise winners to the membership.

Social Committee – set up and organize food requirements for participants.

Gun Captain/Team - Coordinates Gunners and alternatives for the trials, must be exceptional shooters

with the utmost safety in mind.

As you see there are many positions available that we could really use the help to ensure a successful

event.

We encourage all members to participate. GET INVOLVED - CONNECT NOW

CKC Event #2320222311

I’ve personally looked at the menu and I must say Myra and Doreen have outdone themselves this year.

The food choices they have chosen for both the Cocktail Reception & the Banquet are world-class.

You’re not going to want to miss out on either event at this trial!   I’m certainly looking forward to the

best meal of the year myself.

Details of the full menu will be available when I upload our premium list for this trial.

US field trialers

Please contact me regarding qualification requirements regarding our National.

To those who are unaware, we run cockers at our trials with springers in Canada.  This is a great year to

come up to qualify and have a chance at a National title.
