Excellence in Field Bred Springer Spaniels

Skaar Kennels began in 1988 with the purchase of 2

puppies from Breezy Point Kennels in Medicine Hat.Both of

these puppies went on to be our first Field Trial

Champions. Breezy Point A Brittany Belle (Belle)

wasconceived in England and born in Canada. She placed

in herfirst field trial and got her Championship in 9 trials

at the age of two. Breezy Point’s Wenceslas (Hobbes)

followed with his title the following year.

Since then, we have generated 13 more Field Trial

Champions, 4 National placements in Canada, a National

High Point Dog in the US, A US National Amateur

Champion, 3 Canadian National High Point dogs, 2

National Guns Awards and a National High Point Dam.

Abitt Like Home Kennels was founded in 1992

with the training and breeding of English

Springer Spaniels.  We started our all breed dog

boarding facility in 1997 and then expanded our

services in 2005 to include grooming.  Since then

we have grown even more and we now offer cat

boarding in ournewly built cat building, and

English Cocker Spaniels have been added to our

training and breeding program. Abitt Like Home

Kennels and its owners Casey and Carol Butz are

long-standing registered members of the

Canadian Kennel Club.  Casey Butz has been

handling hunting dogs since childhood. With

decades of experience and a passionate love of

dogs, he can provide expert training in the areas

of gun dog, hunting, and Championship

Bracework competitions. Casey is a highly

successful competitor, an avid hunter, and a

Spaniel field trial judge. These qualifications give

him the experience he needs to fully understand

the requirements of all aspects of your dog's

training.

Quality Field Bred English Springer Spaniels

Rockey's Kennels has been training hunting dogs

for over 40 years. Gary Riddle has trained many

Field Champion dogs and has kennel space

available. Gary loves and appreciates dogs,

especially English Springer Spaniels beginning

over 40 years ago and his fascination of an

excellent hunting dog has never diminished. He

hunts and competes with his trial dogs, always

has and always will. He began trialing English

Springer Spaniels nearly 30 years ago and

during this time he has had, and seen, many

exceptional dogs that he has hunted, trained and

competed with. He has worked with various

breeds of dogs in their training starting out with

the basics of retrieving, bench work, force

fetching, and bird work. FC, AFC, CFC Rockey’s

Quest was Gary’s first trial dog. Quest was

exceptional, not only was he very successful in

trials, Quest taught him a lot of his training skills,

knowledge and ability which carries over to his

working with dogs today. Perhaps one of the

greatest experiences he has had is the

opportunity to Judge the US National Open

Championship. What an honor to see and

experience these wonderful dogs close up and

personal. The training philosophy Gary maintains

is simple, lets see what a dog does best naturally,

develop those strengths with positive

reinforcement and repetition, maintain a high

level of expectation and allow the dog to develop

and compete at what they possess as individual

strengths. Natural ability is critical in a quality

companion and in a competitive dog, but the

program to develop and enhance these skills

only emphasizes these strengths. A dog that

does his job efficiently and for the Handler is a

masterpiece to experience and Gary enjoys any

dog that a accomplishes this. Gary feels strongly

that he has a strength to be able to see these

abilities in dogs, develop them and then

showcase them in the field, home and

competition

Mark has always had a love for the English
